International Journal of Epidemiology Photo Essay Competition

The International Journal of Epidemiology is holding a competition for the best photo essay to encourage researchers to use this medium to present a different side of their work.

Topic

“Health and Well-being”

Participants are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly to include the wider political, social and environmental determinants of health.

Organizer

The International Journal of Epidemiology (IJE), the official journal of the International Epidemiological Association

Prizes

  • The best photo essays will be published in the Journal.
  • The prize for the winner will be £100 in book tokens.


Deadline

September 30, 2015.

Guidelines

  • Photo essays usually include 10-15 photographs with 200-500 words of text.
  • Please consult the instructions to authors available here (see particularly, section on Special Series)
  • Winning photo essays will be reproduced free of charge in colour in the online version, and in black & white in the print version of the Journal.
  • Early career researchers are eligible for the competition up to 5 years after receiving their doctorates.
  • Photo essays should be submitted via ScholarOne, the Journal’s online submission system by the stated deadline.
  • Submissions will be judged by a panel of IJE editors on the following criteria: originality of subject and approach, visual impact, and narrative cohesion.
